Course Overview

If a healthcare or social care organisation provides any goods, facilities or services to the public or a section of the public, it must make sure it adheres to the Equality Act 2010. The equality objectives set by the CQC for 2017-2019 focus on their regulatory role to improve equality for everyone. These objectives include: Person-centred care and equality, Accessible information and communication, Equality and the well-led provider and Equal access to pathways of care. In addition to this the May 2014 NHS England Equality Information Brochure show variation by ethnicity in patient confidence and trust in their GP and it also reveals that the overall patient satisfaction score varies significantly by ethnicity. This course introduces the concepts of equality and diversity. We must ensure everyone is given equal opportunities in every aspect of life. Diversity promotes the inclusion of everyone irrespective of their views, beliefs and backgrounds. Upon completion of the course you will have an awareness of how to promote these concepts and ideas in your working life. On completion of this course, you should be able to:

• Work in an inclusive way
• Access information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion
